With the exception of time, every US unit of measure has a metric counterpart. Depending on where your drilling operations are, the conversion between these systems is either a non-issue or a major frustration. Drilling software applications tend to use the US system of weights and measures, or imperial system and often lack easy methods for converting UOM on the fly. This is an especially important consideration for Canadian energy producers who currently operate approximately 200 rigs.
If your team operates rigs in Canada and in the US, comparing apples to apples can be cumbersome. You might want to compare key performance indicators between a rig in the Saskatchewan Bakken and a rig on the other side of the border in North Dakota. You will have to track flow rates in both cubic feet and cubic meters per second, weight on bit in both pounds and kilograms and convert horsepower to watts and vice versa.

Now users can bring up a side-by-side view of drilling performance for US-based and Canadian rigs and switch both to the same UOM system. This is an extremely powerful enhancement that now allows our clients to monitor both sides of the border in real-time in the UOM that makes the most sense.
